Tom entered his first fast draw contest at Annie Oakley Days in 1982. As a leather craftsman, he went on to make holsters for new shooters. He is also a skilled gunsmith and could change a Colt with flat springs to coil springs. Tom was a good teacher and helped shooters at thumbing. Along with his wife Bonnie and their club "The Dakotas", hosted many contests and in 1984 they both won Top Gun of the year. In the next six years, he won the title 5 more times. Tom and Bonnie designed T-shirts with their Fast Draw logo, which we still use today. Tom holds many records in the "hands off" OFDA record book. He is known for taking old guns and making them work like new and making new guns work better. He competed in OFDA from 1982-1994.
