Ron started in OFDA in 1995. He was introduced to the sport by Ron Bright at a Blue Knight's MC convention in St. Louis. Ron Bright won the contest and presented Bretz with his first place trophy that he still cherishes today. Ron's first year in fast draw, he took third place in top gun.
Ron served as chairman 2001, and 2002. Ron's fast draw club name was Lawman Gunfighter. He was instrumental in helping to start Gene Autry Days, in Kenton, Ohio. Ron had done a demonstration at the festival, which was a huge hit.
Bretz has traveled all over the United States to compete, not only in the OFDA contests, but also the WFDA contests.
Ron had been in law enforcement most of his adult life! He now enjoys retirement
