Paul was introduced to shooting by Tom Roberts, who at that time was a member of the Buckeye Rangers Fast Draw Club. Tom came in where Paul was working, and seems they had known each other years earlier. Tom invited Paul to come to see what it was about and try his hand at shooting. started. His first contest was Urbana Wild West Festival, in Urbana, Ohio, in 2006. Since 2006 he has attended all the OFDA contests, North and South.
In 2008, Paul took on the job as Records Keeper for the Northern Division. Later on becoming the OFDA Treasurer. Till finally he became Chairman.
In 2010 Paul decided to form his own club, The lake Erie Six Guns
