Ronald Zimmerman, 67, of Wellington, OH passed away January 27, 2021. He was born October 9, 1953 in Oberlin, Ohio, and graduated from Firelands High School in 1972. Shortly after graduation, Ron married his high school sweetheart, Sue Minek, in 1972. Ron grew up on the family farm, and he worked hard with his parents. In 1974, he joined the Navy. When he left the Navy, he went to work at Ames Lawn & Garden Tools in Elyria. Ron started as a material handler and worked his way up to foreman, and finally to Plant Manager. 28 years later, he went to work at ABC Plastic in Lodi, Ohio. Ron was Manufacturing Manager until his death. Ron started his own software program and ran his business as Fas-Tracker Software. The program was designed to help factories better run and maintain their machines. Ron, his wife, grandson, and son-in-law became members of Ohio Fast Draw Association in 2001. Ron was a top shooter for many years. The members of the association called him "The Machine" because he was such a good shooter. He was inducted into the OFDA Hall of Fame in 2019 because he served as treasurer for many years, and the contributions he made in the sport. Ron enjoyed woodworking, gardening, being with his family and friends. His pride and joy was being a grandpa to Garrett and Aria.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sue; children, Lisa (Mark) Dario, Jennifer (Jesse) Harmon; grandchildren, Garrett Harmon and Aria Dario; sister, Carolyn (Milton) Sayler; sisters-in-law, Janet Zimmerman and Mary Lou Pettet; brother-in-law, Fritz Hauff; and several nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Zimmerman and Jean (Holden) Zimmerman; and brother, James Zimmerman.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
