PALESTINE — Charles Edward "Charley" Wise, Sr., age 82, of Palestine, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 30, 201 at 1:30 a.m. at his residence. He was born January 19, 1935, in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Andrew and Bertha (York) Wise.
Charley is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ramona (Duvall) Curtner Wise; two daughters, Terri Marie Wise and Karen Sue Wise Roseski; two sons, Michael Douglas Wise and Charles Edward "Chuck" Wise, Jr.; two stepsons, Lonnie Lee Curtner and Shawn Allen Curtner; stepdaughter, Carla Kay Curtner; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his half brother, Norman Wise; three half sisters, Valma Wise Lyme, Leona Wise Schrader and Mary Wise Stover; infant daughter, Tammy Wise; and stepson, Kelly Joe Curtner.
Charley was a member of the National Rifle Association, National Fast Draw Association, Darke County Fish and Game Club, and Buckeye Sheriff Association. He entered into active duty on April 17, 1956, and was honorably discharged on April 9, 1959, as a member of the United States Army.
There will be a service held Monday, December 4, at 2 p.m. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio, with Chaplain JB Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, with Tim Glidewell officiating. A graveside military service will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family request that everyone dress casual and for his hunting buddies to dress with their camouflage. In lieu of flowers it is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to the Liberty Township Fire Department or FISH food bank.
