Tom was introduced to Fast Draw in 1978. The Crawfords were living in Norwalk, Ohio, and had water hauled by everyone’s favorite shooter, Dale Searls. One of Tom’s neighbors started shooting in his garage, and Tom along with wife Kathy eventually got involved. They were hooked. Tom, with Kathy became members of the Banshees Fast Draw Club, located in Norwalk, Ohio. The couple participated in shows, and parades that the Banshees did. The Crawfords also help in hosting contests.
In 1983, Tom who worked as a “tinner” – journeyman for GM, was transferred to the Sandusky area. The family moved to Martin, Ohio and formed the Blackswamp Fast Draw Club. Kathy’s health problems confined to a wheelchair to which Tom adapted for her to shoot from.
Their three children, sons, Eric, Sean and daughter, Julie have all competed. Julie won the Illinois State Championship her senior year of high school. They have always helped in hosting a contest.
In 2008 Kathy passed, and Tom devoted his time to his gun clubs, and helping other clubs hosting a contest. For this reason for many years Tom was named “Sportsman of the Year”.
Someone introduced Tom to a wonderful lady named Pam. They were married in what else, a western town wedding, with everyone dressed in western attire. Pam joined Tom in hosting contests by cooking delicious meals for all the folks, and shopping for unique awards.
Now Tom isn’t a record breaking shooter, but accurate and consistent. His style has never changed, smooth and accute….it works for him!
So for 40 years of service to the OFDA, in holding an office to helping everyone, we honor you.
