"Jerry Booher began shooting fast draw in the late 1950's and he helped organize the Ohio Fast Draw Ass'n in 1963. Jerry and wife Julie and children traveled all over to contests in their pick-up with a slide in camper. His club was the Dayton Blackhawks and he held contest at the Veterans Park in Dayton. Jerry made a timer clock to help the sport and also broke a lot of records. Through the years he attended every contest possible, held the office of chairman and vice-chairman. He and Judy divorced and he met Gwen and they traveled all over in his conversion van. Jerry had heart by-pass surgery and he got interested in video cameras in 1985 and started taping the contests, this helped the shooters see what they were doing wrong and improved their draws- plus helping the judges decisions on hits or misses on the targets before lithium grease became available. At the meetings he voiced his opinion, but also was willing to listen to yours. Jerry lived what he loved "Fast Draw" and passed away after the contest at Red Jordan's in Macon, Ga on May 23,1992. He is truly missed by anyone who met him.
